altered immunity, such as rheumatoid arthritis, and may be due to an effect on regulatory 1' lymphocyte function.7 Evidence in support of T cell mediation as a second possible mechanism for the induction of morphoea by penicillamine is illustrated by the cases of two patients who developed-morphoea following bone marrow transplants8 after initial development of acute and chronic skin changes of graft versus host disease. The latter represents immune attack on host antigens (the epithelial cells in the skin) by donor T lymphocytes. The morphoea appeared to represent the final healing stage of longstanding inflammation. Acute sensitivity reactions to penicillamine present as local or generalised erythematous, macular, and papular or urticarial eruptions. This may account for this patient's initial skin rash, which subsquently progressed to morphoea.

Histopathologic Features of Giant Cell Arteritis in an Actinic Granuloma Lesion
The association between actinic granuloma and giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis) has been claimed by some authors. There is a hypothesis that actinic radiation has the principal role in the etiology of both diseases in a similar way. Here, we report a case of actinic granuloma that had characteristic pathologic features of giant cell arteritis in histopathologic examination without clini...
متن کاملEvaluation of Serum CRP and Vitamin D in Rheumatoid Arteritis Patients and Healthy People
Abstract Background and Objective: C- reactive protein (CRP), as an acute phase reactant and a reliable marker of inflammation, increases due to inflammatory diseases such as Rheumatoid Arteritis and infectious conditions. New evidence shows that Vitamin D may have important effects on adjusting and reducing the Immune Responses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between...
متن کاملOsteoid Osteoma Presenting as a Painful Solitary Skull Lesion: A Case Report
Introduction: Osteomas are asymptomatic and rare slow growing bony tumors in temporal bone, and should be taken into account in differential diagnosis of the osteolytic solitary skull lesions. Sometimes is associated with pain and functional loss. Only a few cases have been reported. Case Report: We describe a case of an osteoid osteoma of the temporal bone (mastoid) in a 31-year-old woman pr...
متن کاملUnusual manifestations of giant cell arteritis: pulmonary nodules, cough, conjunctivitis and otitis with deafness.
The major manifestations of giant cell arteritis have been well described. Pulmonary manifestations, however, are rare. We report the case of a 75 year old woman with temporal arteritis, presenting with atypical manifestations, i.e. nodular pulmonary lesions, dry cough, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and otitis with hearing loss. We conclude that overlapping features of giant cell arteritis and Wege...
